Billions of characters with different nationalities, ages, interests, ambitions and destinations are relying on urban transportation every day.
We analyzed human needs and expectations while commuting from departure to destination in urban environments. Based on our observations and learnings we created a vision for urban transportation ecosystem in metropolitan spaces in the very near future.
In 10 years from now, a fully connected urban mobility assistant (UMA) will plan & organize our daily commute and enable a platform for unique and fully immersive journey applications.
Humankind will overcome the first stage of artificial intelligence and it will be common to communicate with various smart agents that serve, guide and enhance our daily experiences at home and on the go.
Automation and artificial intelligence will be fully embedded in our private and public lives. Experiences will be immersive and tailored to our personal preferences stored in the cloud.
Devices & environments will be connected and communicate throughout various networks and will be able to sense and respond to our actions, needs and commands.
Highly sensitive and connected Human Machine Interfaces will be able to communicate & respond beyond Human to Human Interactions.

UMA & SMART CITIES
Integrated "Uma's" parking and charging hubs will be spread across cities and will be an instrumental
future part of urban and architectural planning.
Collected real-time user data will allow to predict and plan for peak events, like rush hours, holidays and public events. To meet scheduled and unpredictable real-time demands in different city districts, UMA hubs automatically adapt its fleet capacity, by increasing, decreasing and exchanging vehicles among themselves.
All cars in network will be connected with each other and with a smart cities ecosystem. By securely sharing data we will increase a safety on the streets,
an efficiency of transportation and energy usage, and able to keep the growing car traffic density under smart control. Social city services will be able to use sets of built-in sensors to analyze and actively respond to emergency cases.
WIRELESS ENERGY REALITY
UMA is fully electric and capable of wireless charging. In addition to UMA parking and wireless charging hubs, UMA will be able to be charged during use through inductive charging streets that will be integrated in future street networks.
Each journey from A to B can gain revenue.
To achieve higher efficiency and provide lucrative rides, Uma is equipped with a smart delivery service that is able to transport small parcels and food deliveries in parallel to humans. Passengers can enable this shared delivery feature to reduce the costs of a ride in the UMA mobility app.
BLENDING WITH LIVING SPACES
“Zero emission” and deep integration into urban architecture will enable a shift in which vehicles will have access to previously inaccessible living and public spaces. Traveling in slippers directly from your living room to a doctors appointment inside a hospital will be become reality.
Future cities will look different. Some will grow beyond our imagination, others will continue to preserve their old classic charm.
UMA is designed to be blended-in seamlessly with both architectures visually to avoid unnecessary visual noise on overcrowded streets.

UMA’s advanced external HMI communication features will be crucial to gain people’s trust in fully autonomous vehicles.
Smart sensors sense, analyze, predict and react in real-time and communicate with audio-visual technology clearly to its surroundings and pedestrians.
AWARENESS & EXTERNAL HMI
Communicating awareness of its surroundings is a major feature in UMA’s external HMI. Subtle but clearly visible indicators interact with users, pedestrians and other traffic participants.
TRAFFIC & EXTERNAL HMI
During the transition time, from ordinary manually driven to fully autonomous vehicles, both generations will co-exist and participate on the streets. UMA’s external HMI will pro-actively communicate through instant notifications with car drivers on the road. Notifying them on traffic conditions and surrounding events in real-time.
UMA’s HMI will be part of the overall road safety culture.

UMA will permanently scan its surroundings. In case of sensing any unusual activity, UMA is equipped with an advanced detect & react security system. In addition to reducing its speed or maneuvering around the obstacle, UMA also communicates directly with the participant of the incident through directed sound waves. This will also avoid noise disturbance to other traffic participants and the environment.

ORDERING & CONFIGURING YOUR JOURNEY
Through personal cloud, UMA can analyze and recommend magical travel experiences tailored to your needs. The user friendly UMA app will be constantly updated with new journeys created by brands and artists and will run on monthly subscription model.
users will be able to recognize their vehicle and distinguish it from other UMA vehicles through their personal visual ID illuminated on the side of UMA. This ID is part of their personal digital signature in the future.
After recognition, UMA will greet you through an audio-visual notification and will activate the boarding scenario. Automated doors, sliding steps and turning seats invite and ease the on-boarding process.
Personal preference parameters such as favorite temperature, music, aroma, ambient lighting, seat position, speed preferences and many others are automatically activated and updated after each ride to ensure a very personal experience.

We have spent a lot of effort to prepare, organize and conduct usability research to test our core assumptions in conditions close to the parameters used in our vehicle by using a "low fidelity" simulation of our desired dimensions and user interface.
Through observation and interviews with our test participants we were able to gain insights that helped to enrich and further develop UMA’s experience modes as well as our future testing approach on high-fidelity simulations.
